Chama sofa bed

The Chama sofa bed by Mi Jin Park of LAGOSTUDIO (2011) borrows its logic from the Japanese futon. One mattress, folded in two, makes a sofa for two people; opened out, it becomes a double bed for guests. Two large cushions form the backrest, and once the bed is made up they still give you something soft to lean against. It is offered in single and double versions.

Fabric is where Chama gets its character. The mattress, the cushions and even the seams can each be in a different color, so the piece can be quiet and tone-on-tone or deliberately contrasting. The catalog lists 13 cover options, among them Darwin, Francis, Axum, Penny and Frosty. The Chama armchair is the smaller, one-seat member of the same family.
