30mm Weightless bookcase

30mm Weightless turns the 30mm bookcase upside down: instead of rising from the floor or hanging on a wall, its columns drop from the ceiling. Daniele Lago designed it in 2012. The columns are made in different lengths, so a composition reads like a row of stalactites, and it can hang in the middle of a room to split it into zones.

There are two versions. The open one lets light pass between the shelves; the one with back panels works as a dividing wall. Each column is fixed through a special ceiling plate at several points to spread the load, a system the factory developed and tested together with Fischer. The only finish listed is lacquer.
