Vela doors

Vela is a pivot door by Giuseppe Bavuso that swings in both directions. The leaf sits in the middle of the jamb, and instead of side hinges it turns on pivots at its top and bottom edges, so it can be pushed from either side.

Two versions are offered: one closes against a patented magnetic profile, the other with a magnetic lock. In both cases magnetism does the work that a latch mechanism would normally do, which keeps the movement light and quiet. Vela suits passages that are used in both directions all day long.
