WL2 bookcase

WL2 is a tension bookcase designed by Wolfgang Laubersheimer in 1985 and still produced as a historic piece. It is made from a single sheet of untreated steel 3 mm thick held straight by a steel cable that works as the tensioning element, so the construction is visible at a glance.

The steel is left metallic gray or lacquered in a rust color. The approach owes much to the Bauhaus: one material, no decoration, and the structure doing all the work. Each bookcase carries its own number.
