Elegie bookcase

Design: Ignazio Gardella
Item no.: DF-H8421

Elegie is a new edition of a bookcase that Ignazio Gardella designed in 1949, one of the early pieces built on the idea of modularity. Steel uprights of 100 by 100 mm in black epoxy enamel are fixed to the wall and drilled every 40 mm, so the movable shelf holders in chromed zamak can be set at any height. The base is shaped chromed steel with brass ferrules.

Shelves come in two depths; the deeper one, 460 mm, can serve as a desk or hold a TV or hi-fi. They are fir blockboard faced with MDF, in matt lacquer (26 colors) or veneer. A metal ladder with chromed brass details is also part of the program. A longer wall is made simply by setting modules side by side.
